The plans for our Benefit Concert are coming along nicely.

Performing groups will be...The Dave Golando Big Band, The Big Bore Brass and the combined choruses...Silver Creek High school chorus, Sheridan Community Chorus and Cattaraugus Community Chorus.

The special speakers include: Silver Creek mayor Kurt Lindstrom, Gowanda mayor Richard Klancer, Hanover Supervisor Kathy Tampio, Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards, County emergency response co ordinator Julius Leone and Dr. Robert Heichberger.

Please invite your friends and neighbors to this 'concert for a cause.'
Cash and/or checks will be accepted the day of the concert.

Chorus rehearsal (9/22/09)...

We will have our one and only chorus rehearsal on Tuesday, September 22 @ 7:00 pm at Silver Creek Central School auditorium.

We will rehearse the 4 pieces we will be performing at the Benefit Concert on Sunday, September 27, 2009 @ 3:00 pm at S.C.C.S. The pieces are:

From our patriotic musical 'Our Flag Was Still There'...
'There She Stands,' I Pledge Allegiance Again,' and 'Stars and Stripes.'

And the Silver Creek High School chorus piece: 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters.'
Copies of 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' is at my house [11786 Hanover Road in Silver Creek - Town of Hanover] in the chest on the front deck. If you get a chance, stop by and pick up a copy to look it over before the concert.

Chorus update...

I have the music: 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters,' which we are going to sing with the Silver Creek High School Chorus at the benefit concert on Sunday, 9/27/09.

We will rehearse it on Tuesday, September 22 @ 7:00 PM during our one and only rehearsal. If you want to pick it up in advance, I will leave copies in the chest on the front deck at our house (11786 Hanover Road - Silver Creek).

We have not yet received the okay to rehearse at the school on 9/22, but please plan on a rehearsal in Silver Creek on Tuesday (9/22).

Reminders...
Please post as many of our 'Benefit Concert' posters as you can.

Invite your friends and neighbors to our 9/27 Benefit Concert. It's a great concert for a great cause.

Please bring a gift basket to be auctioned off at our post-concert reception on 9/27.
And invite others to donate a basket for the auction.

Report time for the participants of the Benefit Concert on 9/27 is 2:00 pm.
Singers should report to the auditorium.
Players should report to the band room.

Combined Chorus Rehearsal...

We are planning a chorus rehearsal for Tuesday, September 22 @ 7:00 PM.
I don't know where the rehearsal will be yet...but please keep the evening open.
We're trying to get permission to rehearse inside the auditorium at the Silver Creek Central School. I'll let you know.

I have the patriotic books at the house w/practice trax, if you want to call to come by the house to pick up your book.

PLACE: Silver Creek Central School Auditorium
REPORT TIME: 2:00 PM
You can enter the side door with the wooden covering over the sidewalk with the sign: 'Home of the Black Knights.'
CONCERT START TIME: 3:00 PM
Attire: white over black (please wear cool, loose fitting clothing in case the auditorium gets warm.)
If you are bringing a gift basket to be auctioned off at the Chinese Auction, you can drop it off in the cafeteria before the concert.

The local cable channel: 'Access 12' is planning to tape the 'Benefit Concert' on Sunday, September 27, so it can be shown in the future on local cable channel 12.

Community Chorus rehearsal...

We have a chorus rehearsal planned for Tuesday, 9/22/09 to be held tentatively at the Silver Creek Central School Auditorium (1 Dickinson Street - Silver Creek, NY 14136).

This would give us a chance to become accustomed to the acoustics and the logistics of the school/auditorium/stage etc.

The place we rehearse is tentative...if we can't use the auditorium, I would still like to get together to go over the 3 pieces from the "Our Flag Was Still There' cantata. The pieces will be... 'There She Stands,' 'I Pledge Allegiance Again,' and 'Stars and Stripes Forever.' Plus, we'll go over 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters.'

Benefit Concert...

We've got some amazing pictures of the flooding in Silver Creek and Gowanda. They were supplied to us by the Gowanda fire department and Chautauqua County emergency responders. They will be projected on screen during the entire 2 hour concert...plus during the post concert reception. We have hundreds of pictures!

Benefit Concert (9/27)...

As part of our 9/27 benefit concert, I have invited the mayors of Silver Creek and Gowanda plus the supervisor of Hanover to be a part of our program. I have also invited a few members from the local organizations involved in disaster relief.

They will describe some of the events of the 8/10/09 flooding and the slow steps toward recovery.

We will have some equipment from both Silver Creek and Gowanda fire departments in the school parking lot during the concert.

Benefit concert needs...

I need someone to volunteer to organize the reception following the concert.
There have been a few people who have contacted me volunteering to bring cookies, deserts, drinks, etc...but I need someone to organize all their efforts.

I need help with the Chinese Auction to be held during the reception.
We need someone to help organize our volunteers...maybe someone with experience with Chinese auctions.

9/27/09 Benefit Concert

I am thrilled that the Silver Creek High School Chorus members will be joining forces with our Sheridan/Cattaraugus Community Chorus. Plus, we will do an additional song: 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' directed by the high school chorus director Rachel Curtin.

The posters are done!

The posters for our 9/27/09 benefit concert are in. I have 200 of them and would like volunteers to help post them in public places (stores, malls, restaurants, churches, town halls, schools, etc.).

I'll leave a supply of them at our house (11786 Hanover Road - in between Routes 20 & 39) in a chest on our front deck. Please take as many as you can use.

We need to get the word out! This will be a great concert for a great and worthwhile cause.

9/27/09 Benefit Concert...

The preparations for the upcoming 9/27/09 Benefit concert are coming along.
I am contacting officials from the surrounding areas, officials, emergency responders, businesses...plus we are filling out the roster of musicians: trumpeters, saxophonists, trombonists, guitarists, euphoniumists, tubists, percussionists, keyboardists, guitarists, singers, etc.

We can accept check payments for the flood victims...

Checks can be made out to: 'Silver Creek Flood Relief' with 'Benefit Concert' written on the "memo" line. The surrounding Towns, Villages, Cities have been very helpful.
