Last night's (7/13) concert

The combined Sheridan/Cattaraugus Community choruses performed our patriotic concert last night at The Cattaraugus Christian Camp. We had good attendance in both the chorus and audience.
The audience loved it. My barometer is always the "feeling" I get from the audience as we perform, and the quantity and passion of the individual audience members following the concert. Both were extraordinary.
If you are one of those involved in last night's concert...thank you from the very bottom of my heart. I realize and appreciate the sacrifice of your valuable time...and the cost of travel. Thank you. All the participants should be proud.
Diane and I got a tour of the facilities of the camp following the concert and it is a beautiful camp filled with warm and friendly people. Some day Diane and I hope to spend more time there.

The Sheridan/Cattaraugus Community choruses will perform the patriotic concert this afternoon (7/13) at 3:00 pm at the Cattaraugus Christian Camp.
Report time for the chorus members will be 2:00 pm.
So much for "Sunday is a day of rest!"

Saturday night in Forestville

Last night, Diane, Melanie (Diane's grand daughter), Diane's mother, my trombone, and the scooter headed off to Forestville for their 200th anniversary festival.
It still amazes me to see all the festivals and celebrations in this area.
I got a chance to play bass trombone with the Dave Golando Big Band. I had a great time playing with musicians from Pennsylvania to Buffalo.
I have to say, Melanie & Diane's mother didn't make it through the 3 hour performance, but they did enjoy it.

The Sheridan & Community Choruses will be presenting the patriotic musical: 'Our Flag Was Still There' on Sunday, 7/13/08 at The Cattaraugus Christian Camp (At the corner of Routes 353 & County Route 6) 9714 Leon Road in Cattaraugus, NY 14719 (716) 257-3079.
The concert will begin at 3:00 pm [Report 2:00 pm].
Attire: red/white/blue (stars & stripes patterns encouraged) or white over black acceptable.
Bring choral books and flags.

On this day in 1775, to explain why several thousand militia from the different Colonies were camped outside Boston, which was occupied by the British, the Continental Congress issued a Declaration of The Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms. It concluded:

Number of places nationwide with "liberty" in their name. The most populous one is Liberty, Missouri (26,232). Iowa has more of these places than any other state: four (Libertyville, New Liberty, North Liberty and West Liberty).

Eleven places have "independence" in their name. The most populous of these is Independence, Missouri, with 113,288 residents.

Sheridan Community Chorus (7/6) concert

A few things regarding (7/6) concert...
Bud's begging for help again!
1. Chorus concert 7:00 pm at Sheridan United Methodist church...report by 6:00 pm
attire: combination of red/white/blue...white/black acceptable
2. Do you know anyone who would volunteer to shuttle the choir members to/from our concert at Sheridan United Methodist Church on Sunday (7/6)? We have permission to park the choir members' cars at the St. John Bosco parking lot.
3. We could use some help moving some pieces of furniture off the platform following the Sunday morning service at Sheridan.
I thank each and every one of you for your commitment.

Good news from Carolyn

I got this email from Carolyn D. this morning...
Good news! Keep praying!


Dear Family and Friends,

More good news. Andy is no longer in ICU but is still at Hamot. He is eating solids and walking with a walker a little. His mind is clearing up from all the drugs. He no longer sees bugs or tells these outlandish stories. They are still not sure if the kidneys are functioning properly and they are having a hard time regulating his sugar. So please keep praying. God certainly has been taking care of us.

The Sheridan Community Chorus

There will not be a chorus rehearsal on Thursday, July 3. This is an officially recognized vacation day. Please be assured that it will not affect your salary.

This is under the authority of the singer/director negotiated agreement of 11/13/04 in which the conductor/director has the right to make arbitrary decisions without the full agreement and consent of the chorus members without any prior notice.

(and then will pray that the singers show up).
